John is Professor Emeritus of the University of New South Wales (UNSW). He was Vice-Chancellor and President of UNSW from 1992 to 2002. John served as President of the Australian Vice Chancellors Committee from 1998 to 1999. He is an independent director of Macquarie Bank Limited and is a member of the University Grants Committee of Hong Kong and a member of the Board of Trustees of Singapore Management University, where he chairs the Finance and Remuneration Committee.

Steve is a Director of Transfield Services Limited, VisAsia Limited, Criteria Research and Analysis Pty Limited and the President’s Council Art Gallery of New South Wales. In addition, he is a Director of the AIM Academic Advisory Board and Avolution Limited. Steve has been on the Board of over a dozen private and public organisations in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, India and Hong Kong.

Nicholas is Chief Financial Officer of Transfield Holdings and a member of the Transfield Holdings Advisory Board. While at Transfield, Nicholas has had responsibility for overseeing the financial performance of clv and was closely involved in the acquisition of clv’s United States operation.

Walter Carpenter commenced his career in 1980 with Price Waterhouse in Sydney, moving into merchant banking in 1983 with ABN Bank then to Lloyds Bank and Jardine Fleming. During this period, Walter developed a comprehensive understanding of corporate and project finance.

Walter joined the First Pacific Davies Group as General Manager, Hong Kong in 1989. In 1992 Walter returned to Sydney to establish a franchise of First Pacific Davies. Under his leadership the business grew to employ over 1,000 people. Walter sold the business to Savills PLC in 2003.

Walter has recently commenced a new phase of his career as a non Executive Director in a diverse range of businesses.
